When you're applying for a new job and need to submit your resume and cover letter, you realize that it's going to be a lot of work. You send out dozens of emails and then wait impatiently for responses. Next comes the agonizing process of sending these same materials over again when they aren't quite ready, followed by waiting again for responses from people who all say they'll get back to you next week or in a few days. In the meantime, you wonder how the company is going to know who really wants this job if so much time goes by without their response coming in! If only there was a simple way for robots to do that work for them! Enter: money bot. Money bot is a program that allows you to submit your resume and cover letter and then automatically summarizes the results. You can even receive automatic email messages letting you know if an employer has decided to contact you. The program does all this work for you and then sends your newly updated resume and cover letter back to you, exactly as it received them. And, best of all, it's free! (Content updated. Still accurate for version 1.1) Note: All links no longer work (the software appears to be out of business). This article is updated by the creator but might not account for updated links or changes in interface or features. Since most applications come in a web version nowadays, it's no surprise that the default format for money bot is web form. To begin setting it up, you have to enter some information about yourself. You have to enter your email address and password for your email account, which money robot then uses to forward the emails that it receives back to you. Then you tell the program what kind of jobs and locations you're looking for. You can specify whether you prefer working with big companies or small businesses and also whether it's okay if they aren't currently hiring anyone. Also, money bot uses zip codes in its service, so make sure yours is entered correctly. You can also enter the programming language(s) you know, your experience level, your current city, your country of origin, and whether you have a disability. If any of these are informational rather than definitive, select "Don't know" or "Not applicable." For instance, if you're curious about what kind of jobs are available in another country but aren't ready to move yet, you might not know all the languages spoken there. The next page asks for details on your work history. The fields will probably all be blank at first. This is okay; just click through them to finish entering information. You can define details later as you need them. Next comes an information page regarding privacy policies and terms of use. When you click through this page, you'll see the main program page. On the left side of this page is a drop-down menu that lists all of the information you entered. The information in this menu will change as you add more data to it. You can select each item in turn and edit its details in the right-hand window. The main window shows summary information based on the criteria you entered. It is divided into sections for Experience, Skills, Employers, and Location. eccc085e13
